Abstract:
The main aim of this research is to study the effect of employine the Exhaust Gas tiecirculation E.G.R.) on the performance of Spark Ignition Engines(S.I.E.) under different operating conditions. Theexperiments have been carried-out on a KAT 1500 J!1pe Engine supplied by NASR Company. Special attention has been .focussed on the emission levels of CO - ”Carbon monoxide” and HC ”unburned Hydrocarbon. Conventional perfonlance such as Specific Fuel Consumption CS.F.C and cycle-to-cycle variation have been studied as well. An apparatus was constructed to introduce some exhaust gases with different quantities through two valves and throttle gate control mechanism. The opera-ting conditions varies between low and high engine speed )1100 - 2450 r.p.m) with different loads. E.G.R. was passed through different filters in order to separate irnpurities. A condenser was fitted in the loop for cooling E.G.H. and condensing the water vapour before re-introducing it into the engine. The rate of E.G.H.. was controlled by El ~t ,-4f va/lJv~s l8nJi measured sing an orifice-meter.
