Abstract:
The maintenance is one of the essential subjects. Thenational economy affected di~ectly by maintenance and itsoperations.Any shortcoming in ~aintenance causes reducingin the incom~ rate.The maintenance cost reaches about 5% ofthe sales in West Germany, 4% in U.S.A. and 3% in U.K.At present, there is an increase in the ratio betweenmaintenance cost and company’s profit on account of theincrease in the labor and spare parts costs which are used inmaintenance operations.All the above has a direct influence on theprofitequation, ~hich means that maintenance has a central andimportant role.A certain reports that about 82% of the total yearlydowntime is Jue to unscheduled repairs and no efficient datacollection system is in existance to record failures ofparts.It ie; vp.ry important to plan, schedule, control andoptimize usage for management and technical methods toach i eve thl;! optimum maintenance operations.This thesis is concerned with the problem of how todetermine the optimum replacement intervals.
