Abstract:
Skew bridges are being more widely used to fulfil the requirement of thehighways alignment. In this work, the structural analysis computer program(Sap90) is used to study the structural behavior of simply and continuousskew composite bridges as a three -dimensional structure. These bridgesconsist of a reinforced concrete slab supported by steel girders. The materialof both slabs and girders is assumed homogeneous and isotropic. Thebridges are assumed having a fully composite interaction .The slip between’the concrete deck slab and steel girder is neglected .AIl girders are assumedto be horizontal in the transversal direction and no super-etevatlon is takeninto account. All bridges are assumed to be unshored constr-uction in itssequence of structural analysis behavior .The effect of different parameterssuch as span length, skew angle, .... etc are taken into consideration. Acomparative study between the right and skew bridges is presented. Differentrelations between these two types of bridges are deduced and could be ofgreat help for designers.
