Abstract:
New poly(2-acrylamido-1,2-diaminobenzene) homopolymer (PADB) reacts with Cu(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), and UO2(+2) to give polymer complexes with different stoichiometry, depending on the metal salt and the reaction conditions. The polymer complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, NMR, magnetic susceptibility, visible and IR studies. IR spectra show that PADB behaves in a bidentate manner. Different stereochemistries are proposed for Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II), complexes on the basis of spectral and magnetic studies.
