Caisson vas used as the main construction block in theGreater Cairo Wastewater Project for the main pumping station; the Ameria tunnel pumpinq station (ATPS). Thisstation is one of the key components of this project. It is probably the larqest installation of its kind in the vorld.The objective of the Ameria tunnel pumping station is to lift the vaste vater 32.0m from the level of the collected tunnel at (-14.0) mean sea level (HSL) to the level of boxculverts at qround level (+ 18.0) HSL to continue the flow avay, under gravity, to the final treatment plant. the ATPS contain eiqht huqe centrifuqal pumps, each with the abilityto lift 3600 liters per second.The construction of ATPS is considered one of the highly technoloqical civil enqineering works constructed in Egypt.The objective of this study is to investigate the construction method of Aaeria tunnel pumping station caissonfrom the above mentioned aspect. To achieve this goal it is necessary to illustrate these methods, their adoption, problems faced and solutions innovated.
