Abstract:
The owner of a construction project is always seeking for a delivery strategy that realizes his objectives and meets his requirements. He may wish to recruit some agents to carry out his project so as to be involved in all decisions, or he may bypass the project to a vendor who will be fully responsible to making all decisions. This study focuses on the project delivery systems applied in the < Egyptian construction industry for various categories of projects owned by < 35 government/public client organizations. The study was conducted through interviewing the personnel representing the clients’ officers and projects’ managers. The questionnaires < they had filled included the main points outlining the basic elements of the project delivery system, such as methods of tendering, and the types of contracts, that are used in the their projects. Then, analysis of the data collected was carried out to evaluate the existing project delivery systems < in the Egyptian construction industry, accompanied by evaluating each < element of these delivery systems and discussing the implementation of < either the alternatives of each element, or the alternative strategies of the existing one. The suitability of different project strategy alternatives for each construction project category evaluation, the delivery system most suitable for each project category was identified.
