Abstract:
The present study deals with the study of internal stresses and displacements of continuous strip-footing containing cracks resting on elastic homogeneous isotropic soil medium that subjected to static and dynamic loads. The analysis of soil-structure interaction problem usmg finite elements techniques requires construction of large finite meshes in order to model the far field that is of minor interest to the analyzer. In the study, the performance of finite element technique m the analysis of static and dynamic soil- structure interaction problems is investigated. The analysis is performed using the traditional modeling of finite meshes with assumed rigid boundries and alternatively representing the soil by discrete spring and dashpot at each node of the foundation (Approximate model) to represent the soil- foundation interaction. A computer program with 3-phases based on the finite element theory IS developed to model the foundation soil interaction.
