Abstract:
The productivity is one of the most important activities formanagement as increasing productivity means increasing the nationalincome and the levels of personnel. Because the high growing incomputer science and its application in industry, the thesis introduces anew computer-aided system for inventory control, calculating thestorage area and selecting the suitable material handling equipmentbecause the control in these operations resulted in increasingproductivity and achieving high profits. The introduced system has to be run under windows, this gives itmany facilities. The system is organized in modular format, thesemodules are optimum order quantity, storage area, material handling, main module, and help module. The main module is the central module which controls all othermodules, data and input/output screens. The Help module introducesan extensive help for each part in the program. This module is runthrough the program help menu or by pressing F1 at any time. Theoptimum order quantity module determines optimum order quantity, number of orders per year, cycle time, reorder point and total cost forinventory. The storage area module determines the main and substorage areas. The material handling module selects the suitablematerial handling equipment. The proposed system can be used in mostfactories by inputting its inventory and storage data and characteristicsof plant layout, equipment and material to be handled. The proposed system it can be easily operated by the usersregardless their skills and experiences. The application of proposedsystem in a factory producing poultry, rabbit and animal feeds showsthat the material productivity increased from 1.12 LE/LE to 1. 131
