Abstract:
Fuzzy Logic has been applied in wide areas, starting fromconsumer electronics to robotics and industrial control systems. General-purpose microcontrollers or Fuzzy Logic Processors usually do theimplementation of Fuzzy Logic Controller. They need special software todevelop fuzzy logic application from design, evaluation, implementation,and tuning process.The objective of the present research work is to introduce amicrocontroller based fuzzy logic system that can be adapted for most offuzzy logic applications. The system consists of a hardware target boardbased on MCS’Sl microcontroller and supporting software running underPC Windows.The system is targeted for developing fuzzy logic based systemand it supports fuzzy logic design, evaluation, knowledge file generatorand downloading process to the target hardware via RS-232 serialcommunication. Optimization methods are used to produce efficient codethat runs faster and uses less memory space in the target hardware.The system was tested on various practical Fuzzy InferenceSystems (FIS) like ”Fuzzy channel equalizer”, ”Rapid Battery Chargers”,and ”Automatic Focusing System”. The system speeds up the designprocess of FIS by integrating the software and hardware into simplepackage with the ability to simulate the system function on PC or in realapplication.
