Abstract:
The idea of estimating the parameters of a large scale aquifer system was suggested in the late 1978 by Dr.Emad :;asmy as a result of the difficulty found in the calibration of the Western desert aquifer and the use of a trIal and error technIquein the evaluation of the system parameters •This problem is known as an Inverse Optimisation problemwhere the Laplace non linear partial differential equation is solved inversely. The Direct Continuous Method’ has been designed for an artesian leaky aquifer and tested over three large regions inthe Western desert •The first phase of the method involves here analysis of field data ( Transmissivity •depths • observation heads ,discharge rates ,estimated boundary conditions ... )and is fo’llowed by a local isation of surface breaks. The second phase consists of estimating the unknown aquifer param~ters
