Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe present study deals with the problem of theoptimum design of high-rise buildings. The optimumsolution for differentstructuralsystems (slab /column, frame, and shear wall structures) have beeninvestigated under both vertical and horizontal (wind)loads. The study has two phases. The first is maximizingthe structural height of the building. The objectivefunction for this phase is subjected to different linearand nonlinearconstraints(deflection;stress, geometrical and architectural constraints) in order tocompare the maximum permissible height among the threestructural systems. The second phase of the studyconsiders the cost of material as the objective functionthedetermineand compared with the corresponding values obtained fromthe case of one tunnel only. Three types of soil wereconsidered under drained conditions.Stresses.
