Abstract:
In the past there was no need to built high nse buildings,but due to the rapid increase in peopulation, and the moderncivilization requirements, the number of tall buildings are rapidlyincreasing for both residential and commercial purposes, whichnesestate the need for improved understanding of the behaviourof such structures.In most big cities In Egypt there is a strong oppositionto the use of tall buildings for resedential purposes, for varioussocial reasons and because the public services of these citiasare not designed to support such intensity of peopulations. Butthe economical fact in Egypt still stands, that tall residentialbuildings from one of the most economical means of providinglarge number of people with· modern housing, considering thescarcity of land and cost of expanding or creating new cities,with all their requirements of other services.In some countries they are sometimes used for commercialpurposes to provide an economical means of accomodating thehuge amount of office work involved with big commercial compa-nies or various departments of a light manufacturing one in onebuilding which will result in smoothing the daily work and increaseto efficiency with less cost in communication and transporta-tion.
