Abstract:
The aim of this study was to:1- Isolation and characterization of Staphylococcus aureus fromnosocomial cases hospitalized in Mansoura University Hospitals.2- Assess the nosocomial infection rate with MRSA among thedifferent patient populations admitted in different Departments inMansoura University Hospitals.3- Detection of the mecA gene in Methicillin Resistant Staph. aureus(MRSA) isolates which encodes Methicillin resistance using PCRtechnique.4- Investigation of sensitivity and resistance of Staph. aureus isolatedto different antibiotics commonly used in treatment of infectiousdiseases.5- Estimation of the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) andminimal bactericidal concentration (MBC).
