Abstract:
Hepatitis A and E viruses (HAV, HEV) which transmitted enterically are highly endemic in Egypt. This study aims to evaluate prevalence and genotyping of HAV, HEV and TTV in the environment.In the present study, 45 sewage samples were collected during November 2007 to January 2009 from Zenin wastewater treatment plant. There were 15 sludge samples and 30 wastewater samples, 45 drinking water samples were collected from EL-Giza treatment planThe results showed that the incidence of HAV in sewage samples was 80% (36/45), while it was 76.3% (116/152) among hospitalized children’s with acute hepatitis and it reached to 28.9% (13/45) in drinking water samples.
