Abstract:
The optimum conditions of the sulfate route for the processing of Rosetta ilmenite ore for the preparation of pigment grade TiO2 have been determined. In the studied route, it was found convenient to avoid working in an almost solid state and to explore trelevant extraction factors have involved the aqueous phase acidity, theTOPO molarity, the time of extraction, the ratio of octanol as well as the effect of diluent and the A/O ratio Several experiments were also performed to study the stripping factors of titanium from the loaded tri-octyl phosphine oxide extractant The striobtained result has proven its maximum purity (100% Ti In the meantime, the traditional sulfate process was also studied where the obtained product was found to assay up to higher than 99.8% TiO2, while the associated impurities of manganese, iron, vanadi
