Abstract:
The present study was undertaken to determine the effect of age on some biochemical parameters in the blood of rats. Male rats (21) were selected and kept under good hygienic measurements. They were divided into 3 groups on the basis of age (1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 months) and then bled. The samples of blood and serum collected were used for determining glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, reduced glutathione and superoxide dismutase (in erythrocytes) and serum 4-glutamyl transferase. Also red blood cell count, packed-cell volume, haemoglobin and blood indices were determined. The results revealed significant changes in the levels of most enzymes studied as well as other parameters in rats blood.
