ABSTRACTLimestone, zircon and zirconia are used as starting materials to produce CZ- βC2S based refractories for application in both iron and steel industries as nozzle when added to graphite and/or in firing zone of rotary cement kiln when added to dead- burned Two batches composed of CZ-βC2S were stoichiometrically prepared in addition to excess ZrO2 then investigated through thermal behavior, phase composition, physico- mechanical, microstructure and refractory properties.
