Abstract:
Currently, there is a growing demand for lanthanides production technology to satisfy many characteristics economically and industrial activities. In this respect, the primary goal of this thesis was oriented to elaborate a reliable and reproducible methoCombination of wet chemistry based ion exchange chromatography and advanced detection instrumentation to get sufficient separation and measurement of lanthanide elements has been described. Simi-automated method including ion chromatographic column separaThe optimized procedures were designed to characterize the separation process based on the difference in equilibrium constant of the investigated lanthanide elements between the ion exchange resin of and the mobile phase that containing the complexing ageThe obtained results show a promising method for separation of La, Ce, Nd and Sm using 0.1M citric acid. Separation of La, Ce, Nd and Sm by oxalic acid represent less sufficient elution process and hence less separation efficiency. Finally, the separationProduction of lanthanide elements on a large scale is an application of the ion exchange chromatography technique, whereas the recovery of individual rare earth metal with high degree of purity is available.
