SYNTHESIS OF SOME NUCLEOSIDE DERAVITIVES AND STUDY THEIR BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

I have reported that my work in this thesis about the investigation of the utility of the reaction of previous reported pyrimidine derivatives with α-halo and peracetyl sugars, for the synthesis of some glycosides, galactosides and ribosides.Compounds 3a-c were obtained by the reaction of 5-acetyl-6-methyl-2-arylpyrimidine-4-thiol (1a-c) with 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-α-D-glucopyranosyl bromide 2 in the presence of acetone and aqueous potassium hydroxide (Scheme 1).The galactosides 7a-c could be obtained by MW irradiation of 1a-c with peracetyl galactose 5 for 10 min. using silica gel as a solid support. (Scheme 1).Ribosides 9a-c were obtained by by MW irradiation of 1a-c with peracetyl ribose 6 for 8 min. using silica gel as a solid support.(Scheme 1)Treatment of pyrimidines 1a-c with peracetylated ribose 6 in MW irradiation using silica gel as a solid support gave the corresponding ribosides 10a-c respectively in good yield (Scheme1).
