Abstract:
The present study was undertaken to investigate the following topics:1- Isolation and purification of pathogenic bacteria from different sources.2- Studying the susceptibility and resistance of bacteria isolates isolated from the patients to different β-lactam antibiotics.3-Determination of MIC of some β-lactam antibiotics against resistant isolates.4- Identification of highly resistant isolates.5-Determination of the β-lactamase activity of the selected highly resistant isolates.6- Effect of some antibiotics on the MIC of selected β-lactam antibiotic (Amoxycillin) for the resistant isolates and their β-lactamase activity.7-Studying some factors affecting the β-lactamase production by the selected isolates.8- Effect of some metal ions and some inhibitors on the activities of β-lactamase of selected isolates.9-Effect of different crude oils of some plants on the growth of highly resistant isolates as well as effect of combination between thyme oil and β-lactam antibiotics (amoycillin and ampicillin) each alone on the growth of highly resistant isolates were i10- Effect of Gamma radiation on the growth and β-lactamase activity of selected oislates was obtained.
