SYNTHESIS AND STUDY OF MODIFIED POLY METHYL METHACRYLATE

The aim of this research is enhancing the properties of methyl Methacrylate (MMA) and produce an evaluated modified samples.This research contains four main branches1 – Polymerization of MMA in the presence of different ratios of prepared phenolic resins such as (resole phenol formaldehyde RPF, novolac phenol formaldehyde NPF and epoxy novolac EN,), natural rubber NR, styrene butadiene rubber SBR and poly styrene.2 – Curing of chosen ratio of previous prepared modified PMMA according to the properties of the modified polymer, and that by using different quantities of curing agent ethylene glycol dimethacrylate EGDMA.3 – Blending with different ratio of some polymer such as NR, SBR, and PS4 – Blending with different ratio of filler such as titanium dioxide TiO2, carbon black, graphite and scrapped tire rubberAll prepared modified polymer were evaluated by using infrared spectroscopy IR, and gel permeation chromatography.All modified polymers were casted as slides to study their mechanical, electrical and thermal properties.
