Abstract:
The main objective of the work presented in this thesis is to study the extraction and separation of uranium, chromium, neodymium, cobalt, and nickel by solvent extraction technique. In the first part of the thesis, the different parameters affecting the extraction of the above metals from thiocyanate medium were studied. These parameters include the extractant, thiocyanate, hydrogen ion, metal concentrations, equilibrium time, as welThe thermodynamic functions were determined and discussed as a result of the effect of temperature. The stoichiometry of the extracted species was established. The stripping of the extracted species from loaded Cyanex-921 in kerosene was also studied. In the second part, the kinetic studies on the extraction of U(VI), Cr(III), and Ni(II) by Cyanex-921 in kerosene from aqueous thiocyanate medium were carried out using a stirred Lewis cell and the different parameters affecting the rate of the extraction
