Abstract:
Chronic renal failure is a common clinical problem in diagnosis, evaluation and management. The primary etiology of chronic renal failure-related anemia is the inadequate production of the renal hormone erythropoietin. However, dialysis patients may have anemia accentuated by such additional factor as aluminum excess, severe hyperparathyrodism, Anemia, as a regular component of the chronic uremic syndrome, was described well before renal replacement techniques were available. Indeed, most chronic uremics starting maintenance hemodialysis present signs of severe anemia that, as shown in earlier sBecause of the variability of pathogensis of anemia of chronic renal failure whether with or without hemodialysis, and the accepted usage of iron as a supplement with the aim of correction of this anemia. Iron deficiency is the most frequently encounteredFor this purpose the present study was desigend to evaluate intravenous iron gluconate therapy in anemic patients with chronic renal failure maintained on hemodialysis treatment. The study comprised forty three patients with chronic renal failure maintained on regular hemodialysis and suffered from uremic anemia. The patients were divided into two groups one of them thirty patients (group II) include 26 males and 4 females their aAs controls twenty subjects healthy volunteers (group I) include 16 males and 3 females their ages ranged between 25-58 years with mean of 41± 10 years.
