Abstract:
(2) Ternary lead borate glass containing ZnO (glass No.10):The absorption bands at 840 and 1220 cm-1 are not clearly observed in the spectra of such glasses, which suggest the possible formation of tetrahedral coordinated of (ZnO4) affecting the network. The broad band which appears at 3450cm-1 can be attributed (3) Multicomponent optical silicate glass (glass No.11)This glass contains two cations, which are known to form structural building units i.e. aluminium and silicon. Therefore, in the IR spectra, besides the bands corresponding to the Si-O bonds, the bands due to Si-O-Al bonds should also be visible. Each spe(4)Multicomponent optical silicate glass (glass No.12)The infrared spectra reveal the bands corresponding to the Si-O-Si antisymmetric stretching of bridging oxygens at 1070cm-1, the bands due to Si-O-Si bending modes at 460 cm-1, the bands due to the Si-O-Si symmetric stretching of bridging oxygens at 780 c(5) Interpretation of the effect of temperature on the infrared absorption spectra of borosilicate glass No.14 after exposure to 0.1N HCl solutionThe results can be understood by recalling to the chemical composition of the glass No.14 which contains Al2O3. In this glass, some of the Si4+ is partly replaced by Al3+ ions, resulting in the formation of AlO4 tetrahedra. The negative charge is balanced
