Abstract:
Menthone, carvone, and griseofulvin interact with tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) through their oximes to form molecular complexes followed by radical ions formation. The optical absorption spectra, IR \& near-IR spectra, and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra confirmed the ionic nature of these complexes. This finding was developed into a sensitive spectrophotometric assay for the cited compounds of general applicability with adequate accuracy and precision.
