PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL STUDIES ON SOME PIGMENTED STREPTOMYCETES ISOLATED FROM EGYPTIAN SOIL

The present work involves the study of the biological properties of six blue pigmented isolates of streptomyces which were isolated from different soil samples collected from the nile delta region at dakahlia province.These isolates are characterized by production of watersoluble blue pigments which appeared to exhibit pH-indicata property; changing from blue to red and from red to blue upon addition of hcl and Na oH respectively.
